Thinking differently
Over the years I have come to learn what campers enjoy most about the campsite, and having the space to themselves makes it very special. Feeling safe, free to run around and make noise or sit quietly in a peaceful haven. However, I didn’t appreciate that these qualities would make the campsite so enjoyable for neurodivergent people. I am sharing here a review from a lovely family who visited the campsite and very kindly offered to share their experience with me - so I can share it with you:
“This private campsite worked brilliantly for our neurodivergent son. Having our own large, secluded space meant he could stim or be loud without worrying about disturbing others, and we didn’t have to manage the stress of nearby campers or judgement. The site felt very safe and secure, with full fencing and double gates, and although there is a public footpath, we only saw one person pass by. There was lots of room for him to roam independently and safely, and the peaceful, quiet setting made it easy for everyone to relax. The level ground also made it very accessible from a mobility point of view.
The facilities were excellent. The toilet felt like a normal bathroom, which made it much less intimidating. The cooking shed provided a valuable calm indoor space when the tent became overstimulating, especially in windy weather, and the flexibility of cooking options (fire, BBQ and indoor cooking) was a real bonus. We had some phone signal and were able to get grocery delivery, which made the stay even easier. We would absolutely recommend this site to neurodivergent adults and families looking for privacy, security, and a judgement-free camping experience. Tip: bring large battery packs and a cool box.”
I hope this review will encourage others to feel welcome and confident to spend time in nature and to enjoy all the benefits that brings.
